Rory McIlroy crumbles in second round to miss the cut in Hong Kong

McIlroy fails to make the cut

World number one Rory McIlroy has failed to make the cut following a disastrous second round at the Hong Kong Open.

The Northern Irishman started well by hitting four birdies in the first 11 holes but began to slip when he missed six shots on the last seven to drop from a one-under-par score to five-over in total.

New Zealand pro Michael Campbell has taken the clubhouse lead at the halfway stage with a nine-under 64, while China's Zhang Lian-wei sits just below with an eight-under 66.

Javi Colomo, who led at the end of the first round yesterday, has slipped down to sixth with a score of five-under-par.
