Levy secures maiden European Tour win in China

Alexander Levy narrowly held onto his fourth-round lead to win the Volvo China Open on Sunday for his first tournament success on the European Tour.

The Frenchman was three shots clear at the front heading into the final 18 holes, but had Englishmen Tommy Fleetwood chasing him down at Genzon GC.

Levy's double bogey at 15 gave Fleetwood a chance, but a dropped shot at 18 ended his challenge.

Levy recovered well from his slip up to birdie the par-five 17 after a superb second shot into the green, and then birdied the last to finish the tournament on 19-under par and secure a four-shot win.

European Ryder Cup stars Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter finished in a tie for fifth, behind Francesco Molinari and Spaniard Alvaro Quiros, whose double bogey at the last cost him the runner-up spot.

Levy was ranked 282 in the world prior to this week's events.
