David Howell wins Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

David Howell wins his first title in seven years at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews.

David Howell has won his first title in seven years by beating Peter Uihlein on the second hold of a playoff at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.

The 38-year-old, who last tasted victory at the BMW Championship in May 2006, shot 67 on his final trip around St Andrews, which tied the American on 23-under-par.

Both men started with pars at the first playoff hole, but a 10-foot putt for birdie on the 18th saw Howell clinch his fifth victory on the European Tour.

Shane Lowry and Tom Lewis finished tied for third on 22-under par, while Tommy Fleetwood finished a shot further back in sixth.
