Bill Haas wins the FedEx Cup

American Bill Haas has won the FedEx Cup after a playoff victory over Hunter Mahan at the Tour Championship in Atlanta Georgia.

The win also secures the 29-year-old the $10m (£6.4m) top prize, the richest in sport.

Haas and Mahan had both finished the day on eight-under, while England's Luke Donald finished tied for second with KJ Choi and Aaron Baddeley on seven-under.

The 29-year-old looked to have lost the contest on the second playoff hole when he launched a shot into the water, but an audacious chip onto the green put him back into contention before sealing the win on the next hole.
