Woods receives injury boost

Tiger Woods has revealed that he could be fit in time for the Masters after suffering an Achilles injury at the weekend.

The former world number one was forced to withdraw from the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Florida on Sunday, which sparked fears that the 36-year-old could miss the first major tournament of the season.

Woods wrote on Twitter: "Got good news from doc tonight. Only mild strain of left Achilles. Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week."

Woods is scheduled to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, which begins on March 22, just two weeks before the Masters.
