Lee Westwood has claimed that peaking at the right time this year will give him the best opportunity of achieving success in the remaining major tournaments.
The 41-year-old is still searching for his first victory in one of the four major tournaments, and he believes that he is showing signs of hitting his best form heading into next month's US Open.
"The Majors are what you try and peak for, they're three good venues this year and hopefully I can get my game in shape for those," Westwood told Sky Sports News.
"I'm in pretty good shape now so ideally you'd like to peak at the start of the year and carry it on all the way through but certainly main focus for top players is the major championships."
Westwood's most recent victory came in the Malaysian Open in April.
