Bo van Pelt tops the Maryland leaderboard

Van Pelt leads in Maryland

In a low-scoring first day of the AT&T National in Maryland, a first-hole eagle helped American Bo van Pelt to the top of the leaderboard with a four-under round of 67.

Despite the early bonus of the eagle, Van Pelt was keen to point out that he was most pleased with his putting than any other aspect of his game.

"That's improved the most," www.pgatour.com quotes him as saying. "I've stuck with one putter since last year in the [autumn], and it's probably the longest stretch I've done that since I was a kid."

Van Pelt is one shot ahead of three players on three-under, while Tiger Woods is one-over after a round of 72.
