The US PGA have announced that the PGA Tour's season will begin in October from 2013.
The change in the calendar was one of a number of alterations unveiled by Tour commissioner Tim Finchem on Tuesday.
The move comes because there are currently events played after the conclusion of the Tour Championship.
Finchem said: "We are excited to announce these significant changes as we strongly believe that they will strengthen both US tours.
"In regard to the change to the start of the PGA Tour season, the fall tournaments certainly will benefit by becoming part of the season."
Finchem added that some further changes to the Tour have yet to be finalised and will be revealed soon.
