Justin Rose: 'I can compete with younger players'

Justin Rose insists that he has no concerns about his ability to compete with the younger players at the top of the world rankings.

Justin Rose has claimed that he can continue to compete with the younger players currently enjoying success on tour.

Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day currently occupy the top three spots in the world rankings, and Day ended his wait for victory at a Major tournament by triumphing at the US PGA Championship on Sunday.

Rose produced another strong performance in a Major to finish fourth at Whistling Straits and he is confident of rising to the standards set by the trio.

"Golf is in a fantastic place, with all these twentysomething guys coming along, obviously led by Rory, Jordan and Jason," the 35-year-old is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "It's an incredibly exciting time for the game, and I want to be right there in the middle of it as well.

"I've got no doubts about my ability to compete with those younger guys. I'm a lot fitter now than I was when I was 25, I hit the ball a lot further, and I'm shooting some pretty decent scores myself.

"Experience has to count for something, and I'm also in the fortunate position of having already won one of these things, so I don't have to put myself under too much pressure."

Rose, who has claimed three top-10 finishes in Majors this season, is currently fifth in the world rankings.
