Rory McIlroy shoots a final-round 66 to win the CJ Cup in Las Vegas, backing up his pre-tournament statement that he still regards himself as the best in the world.

Rory McIlroy starts his 2021-22 season with a dazzling victory at the CJ Cup in Las Vegas, claiming his 20th PGA Tour title in the process

Ahead of his first outing since the Ryder Cup, McIlroy claimed that he is still the best player in the world when he is able to produce his 'A' game.

While the Northern Irishman did not necessarily need it on a less-than-demanding course in Nevada, he was able to back up Saturday's 62 with a final-round 66 to win by one shot.

An eagle on 14 ultimately put paid to the challenge of Collin Morikawa, the Open champion closing with a 62 to finish in second position.

McIlroy, who now has two successes on the PGA Tour in the space of five months, will now return to the world's top 10 for the first time since the early summer.

Despite his early dominance of the tournament, Keith Mitchell had to settle for a share of third position alongside Rickie Fowler.
