Norman withdraws from Australian PGA Championship

Greg Norman has been forced to pull out of the Australian PGA Championship in Queensland with food poisoning.

The 57-year-old played two holes of his opening round at the Palmer Coolum resort before withdrawing.

"He's had a bad night," said Australian PGA chief Brian Thorburn. "He tried to soldier on through the tournament but after a couple of holes it just wasn't possible for him.

"He's under medical attention at the moment."

Former British Open champion Darren Clarke is among 156 competitors vying for the $1.3m (£805,000) prize.
