No Tour punishment for Williams

The executives of the European and PGA Tour have condemned the racist remarks made by Steve Williams but have confirmed the Kiwi caddy will receive no punishment.

Tim Finchem, the PGA Tour commissioner, and George O'Grady, chief executive of the European Tour, issued a joint statement after the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, which was won by Martin Kaymer..

"The International Federation of PGA Tours feels strongly that there is no place for any form of racism in ours or any other sport.

"We consider the remarks of Steve Williams, as reported, entirely unacceptable in whatever context.

"We are aware he has apologised fully and we trust we will not hear such remarks ever again."

Williams' current employer Adam Scott has stuck by the 47-year-old.
