Joaquin Niemann holds his nerve on the concluding holes to claim a two-shot victory at the Genesis Invitational.

Joaquin Niemann has completed a wire-to-wire victory at the Genesis Invitational, eventually winning by two shots.

The Chilean started the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 63 which gave him control over the chasing pack, but the world number 32 found things more difficult on Sunday.

Despite an eagle early on the back nine, bogeys on 14 and 15 gave hope to the likes of Cameron Young and Collin Morikawa, who was looking for a win which would have taken him to top spot in the world rankings.

However, despite missing birdie putts on the closing three holes, Niemann did enough to get over the line, with American duo Young and Morikawa finishing tied for second place.

Adam Scott and Viktor Hovland were three shots further back in a share of fourth spot, with Justin Thomas on his own in sixth.

Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy shot a final-round 68 to end the tournament in 10th position, with England's Paul Casey and Scotland's Robert MacIntyre tied for 15th place.
