Rory McIlroy reunited with discarded three-iron at WGC-Cadillac Championship

Rory McIlroy is reunited with the three-iron he threw into a lake at Doral during the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

Rory McIlroy has been reunited with the club he threw into a lake at the WGC-Cadillac Championship ahead of Sunday's final round.

The world number one admitted that he was wrong to lob his three-iron into a lake to the left of the eighth at Doral after he had hooked a shot into the same stretch of water during the second round.

The club was retrieved by a diver on Saturday and presented back to the Northern Irishman by American businessman Donald Trump, who owns the course in Florida.

Going into the final round, McIlroy was 10 shots behind leader J.B. Holmes, who holds a five-shot lead over fellow Americans Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson.
