McIlroy puts himself in contention in Boston

Rory McIlroy has surged into an early second-round lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.

The Northern Irishman has shot back-to-back 65s to leave himself on 12-under par, while America's Ryan Moore is his closest challenger in the clubhouse on 10-under par.

"Everything seemed to work pretty well out there," USA Today quotes McIlroy as saying.

"I felt like I drove the ball a bit better today and hit more fairways, which gave me some more opportunities to make birdies. And I was putting well enough to take a few of those.

"Yeah, pleased with where I am and looking forward to the weekend."

Louis Oosthuizen is currently going well on his second round and is 11-under through 16 holes.
