John Mallinger opens four-shot lead at San Martin

American golfer John Mallinger has opened a four-stroke lead at the Frys.com Open in San Martin, California.

The 33-year-old made an eagle and two birdies on the final four holes for a nine-under 62 on Friday.

He eagled the par-five 15th and closed with successive birdies to cap his second straight bogey-free round and reach 14 under.

Billy Horschel of the USA and Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas are tied in second place at 10-under, with Horschel having a 65, and Vegas shooting 67.

Mallinger has yet to win in seven seasons on the PGA Tour, having finished second twice.
