Mahan withdraws from Australian Open

World number 19 Hunter Mahan has withdrawn from the Australian Open with a shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old revealed that he is suffering from soreness in the area behind his right scapula.

Mahan is expected to play next week at Royal Melbourne.

Australian Jarrod Lyle currently leads the event by one shot after he fired a seven-under 65 after the first day.
