America's Hunter Mahan has beaten Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy to win the WGC Match Play final in Tucson, Arizona.
Despite a late flourish from McIlroy, Mahan claimed a 2&1 victory.
Mahan had defeated fellow countryman Mark Wilson 2&1 earlier in the day, while McIlroy claimed a 3&1 win over England's Lee Westwood.
The defeat means that the 22-year-old does not overtake Luke Donald as the world number one.
