Lowry relieved to finally secure Tour win

Shane Lowry has admitted that he started to doubt himself before winning his first PGA Tour title at the World Golf Championship.

The Irishman has three top-10 finishes from 12 events this season, but had failed to convert his good weekends into victory prior to the tournament in Ohio.

He held off the likes of Bubba Watson and Justin Rose with a round of 66 to finish on 11-under par, two shots clear.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's hard to believe but I played good today. I was quite nervous out there towards the end but made a lot of good decisions, hit the ball well and got a bit of luck as well which was nice.

"It's great to be able to pull something off. I was kind of doubting myself a little this year, things haven't been going my way but when you come out the other end it's always nice."

Lowry will hope to win his first Major title at the US PGA Championship next week.
