The threat of lightning halts play at the Volvo World Matchplay, with this morning's semi-finals nearing the end.

This morning's semi-finals at the Volvo World Matchplay have been halted because of a lightning threat as they neared the finish in Malaga.

Paul Lawrie is one up with two to play against Nicolas Colsaerts, while Graeme McDowell is two ahead with four to go against Rafael Cabrera-Bello at the Finca Cortesin course.

Former Open champion Lawrie, who has been in impressive form this year, won the first four holes against Colsaerts, but the Belgian drew back to level before bogeying the 16th to fall behind again.

Northern Irishman McDowell won three of the first four against Cabrera-Bello, but the home favourite recovered to only one down after 12 before losing the next to a nine-foot birdie putt.
