Ireland's Peter Lawrie has a one-shot lead after round one of the Sicilian Open.
Lawrie shot nine birdies at the Verdura Golf and Spa Resort as his round of 64 saw him end the day on eight-under-par.
"You can't win a tournament on Thursday, as they always say, but you can lose it," he said. "I'm not going to get ahead of myself.
"I'm out early tomorrow, which is good for me, I'll try to post a number and let everyone shoot at it tomorrow afternoon."
Wales's Jamie Donaldson was one of three players who shot rounds of 64, while England's James Morrison is joined by four others on six-under.
