Thongchai Jaidee leads in Durban

Thongchai Jaidee has opened up a three-shot lead after day one of the Volvo Golf Champions Tournament in Durban.

Jaidee hit eight birdies to finish the opening round on seven-under-par to lead South African duo Louis Oosthuizen and Ernie Els.

Scotland's Paul Lawrie headed a group of seven players in tied-fourth position, who all finished in three-under-par.

Padraig Harrington recorded a round of 70 but Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts could only produce an opening score of 73.

2012 champion Branden Grace began the defence of his title with a disappointing round of 75.
