Golf world mourns the passing of Kim Jong-il

Members of the golfing world have paid tribute to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, who passed away at the weekend.

Reports once claimed that Kim once recorded a 1l holes-in-one in a single round during 1994.

"With passing of Kim Jong-il, sports world may have lost greatest golfer of all time," tweeted HuffPost Sports.

"Look at it this way: with Kim Jong Il dying, everybody will be moving up one spot in the world golf rankings," Dan Daly said in a Twitter posting.

"Kim Jong-il's passing means Luke Donald is now indisputably golf's world no.1," tweeted John Mackay.

"Golf world mourns the passing of the prodigious world leader never to win a major," wrote Shaun Hinds.

Kim, who was 62, died of a suspected heart attack.
