WGC-Bridgestone Invitational cut from next season's European Tour

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational will not feature on next season's European Tour after the dates were changed to avoid clashing with the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational will not feature on next season's European Tour after it was moved to the end of June by the PGA Tour of America.

The new date is incompatible with the Tour as it will clash with the French Open at Le Golf National.

As a result, prize money won at next year's tournament will not count towards Ryder Cup points tally or the Race To Dubai.

The PGA is bringing the date forward to avoid clashing with the Olympic Games, which will include golf for the first time since 1904.
