ESPN lands the UK rights to show the Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship later this month.

ESPN has acquired the rights to show golf in the UK for the first time.

The US broadcaster will show the Australian Open from November 10 to 13, then the Australian PGA Championship from November 24 to 27.

The deal provides for five hours of live coverage each day as well as an evening highlights programme.

Jeroen Oerlemans, vp of TV channels for ESPN EMEA, said: "As we continue to expand our content in the UK, we're delighted to add two of the most important golf tournaments in the final months of the season."

Separately, ESPN has negotiated a joint deal with the BBC to screen the evening sessions of the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships in January.
