Luke Donald reveals his pride at having reached a combined total of 52 weeks at the top of the world rankings.

Luke Donald has declared himself "very proud" after reaching a combined total of 52 weeks as the world number one.

Donald's reign has been interrupted on a number of occasions by Rory McIlroy, but the 34-year-old's year-long spell at the top leaves him in fifth place in the all-time rankings of players who have held the number one spot for the longest time.

"I've made it a whole year I suppose so yeah, it's something I'm very proud of," he told Sky Sports News.

"Someone told me the other day that only four guys have held that number one spot longer, so I'm very proud of that and hopefully that will continue for a few more weeks."

Donald will return to action at the Scottish Open, where he will look to become the first player in the tournament's history to retain the title, having had a three-week break after missing the cut at the US Open.
