Paul Casey upbeat despite Bubba Watson playoff heartbreak

Paul Casey remains content with his final-round 65 at the Travelers Championship - despite losing a two-hole playoff to Bubba Watson.

Paul Casey has revealed that he was pleased with his performance at the Travelers Championship despite his playoff heartbreak to Bubba Watson.

The Englishman, 37, put himself in contention for a first PGA Tour title since 2009 by carding a final-round 65 in Connecticut to finish on 16-under-par - level with Watson.

Both parred the last during the playoff, before the two-time major winner holed a birdie when they returned to the 18th tee to win the competition for a second time.

Despite the manner of the defeat, Casey, who only has one professional win in two years, refused to be downbeat over the outcome.

"There are always ifs and buts and could haves," he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "But the goal was to give myself a chance to win, and I did that."

Casey is ranked 35th in the world - 30 places below fifth-placed Watson.
