Caddies begin $50m lawsuit against PGA over bib sponsorships

Caddies begin lawsuit over bib sponsors

More than 80 PGA Tour caddies have launched a lawsuit claiming a share of $50m (£33m) earned from wearing sponsored bibs, after a year-long dispute.

The caddies say that they receive nothing of the money made from bib sponsorship, while the Tour has denied them access to healthcare and pension plans, according to BBC Sport.

The lawsuit reveals a set of deep grievances against the Tour, including accusations of being treated "as second-class participants of the game", and having to "use portable lavatories that lack running water" during tournaments.

Mike Hicks, who caddied for Payne Stewart when he won the 1999 US Open, is amongst those representing the caddies.
