Brits progress at World Match Play

Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and Martin Laird have all reached the quarter-finals of the WGC Match Play in Arizona.

Westwood scored a 3&2 victory over Tiger Woods's conqueror Nick Watney, while McIlroy claimed a 3&1 win against Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez.

A win for either player would put them at the top of the world standings at the end of the week.

Elsewhere, Laird came through his all-Scottish encounter with Paul Lawrie 3&1.
