Simon Clarke hits out at Robert Allenby over "porky pies"

Allenby telling 'porky pies' over sacking

Caddie Simon Clarke has accused golfer Robert Allenby of lying to the media after he sacked bagman Mick Middlemo during the first round of the Canadian Open.

Allenby had an argument with Middlemo and then dismissed him, before telling the media that the caddie had "lost the plot" and looked like he was going to beat him up.

However, Clarke insists that the Australian is not telling the real story.

He is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News: "I wouldn't be talking about it if [Allenby] didn't tell the media afterwards a whole lot of porky pies.

"I've known Rob for a long time and I've known Mick for a long time. It's disappointing that Allenby is still treating people that way and how many good caddies he's gone through.

"It's sad that he speaks to the guys this way and doesn't wait until after the round. It's disappointing that he's up to his old tricks."

Allenby scored 81 and withdrew from the tournament.
