Robert Allenby recovering after 'brutal attack' in Hawaii

Golfer Robert Allenby is in recovery after he was brutally attacked in Hawaii.

Australian golfer Robert Allenby has said that he did not suffer any major injuries after being beaten and robbed in Hawaii.

The 43-year-old is quoted by The AFP as saying that he was kidnapped from a wine bar near Waikiki on Friday night before being attacked.

"Medically, I thankfully didn't suffer anything major beyond some bumps and bruises that will take some time to heal," he said.

"My current plan is to fly back to the mainland and at that point, evaluate my ability to play next week at the Humana Challenge. Whatever the outcome regarding my ability to play next week, I anticipate a successful rest of the 2014-2015 PGA Tour season."

Allenby hasn't won on the PGA Tour since 2001.
