Tiger Woods backs Rory McIlroy to complete career Grand Slam

Tiger Woods insists that Rory McIlroy will win The Masters before his career is over as he looks to complete the Grand Slam.

Tiger Woods has claimed that a win at The Masters for Rory McIlroy is inevitable at some stage in his career as the Northern Irishman looks to complete the career Grand Slam at Augusta National this week.

The two players have shared the spotlight this week as Woods makes his return while the pressure is on McIlroy to win on the famous course for the first time, and the former is confident that the world number one will wear the green jacket before his career is over.

"I look back when I did it in 2000, I couldn't ask for a better place to do it at other than St Andrews, the home of golf, and for Rory, you couldn't ask for the other better place to do it, which is here at Augusta," Woods responded when asked about completing his own Grand Slam. "It doesn't get much better than that.

"He has that opportunity and he's going to have that opportunity for decades to come. But I'm sure he'll have many green jackets in his closet before it's all said and done."

McIlroy is looking to become just the sixth person to win all four Majors, and he begins his bid while playing alongside Phil Mickelson and Ryan Moore in the first two rounds.
