McIlroy: 'My game's not quite there'

Rory McIlroy has said that he needs to feel more confident in time for The Masters next month.

McIlroy finished tied ninth at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, scoring a final-round 72 having skewed two shots into the water on the final hole.

He apologised after throwing his three-iron into the water during his round on Friday.

"The game's just not quite there. I've got a week off now to try and work on it a little bit," McIlroy told Sky Sports News.

"I am pretty disappointed with how I played overall. I felt it was a little better again today for the most part but a bit of a disappointing finish. But it's just not quite 100%.

"My inability to hit the ball right-to-left isn't something that you want going into Augusta. It is something I want to try and work on a little bit."

The WGC-Cadillac Championship was won by one shot by Dustin Johnson.
