A mistake from Hunter Mahan on the 18th allowed Justin Rose to claim a share of the spoils during their Ryder Cup singles encounter at Gleneagles this afternoon,
It was a poor start for Rose, who lost four of the opening seven holes, with the other three being halved.
However, the Englishman responded with four consecutive birdies to level up proceedings. Then, in a topsy-turvy three holes between 12 and 14, Mahan went 1 Up, was then pegged back again by Rose, before the American regained a one-hole advantage.
It looked to be a match-winning lead as the two players headed down the 18th, but a poor chip shot from Mahan sent him from one side of the green to the other, which resulted in him conceding the hole and meant that the match was drawn.
