Ian Poulter drops out for Europe in afternoon foursomes

Poulter drops out for Europe

Martin Kaymer has been preferred to Ian Poulter as Justin Rose's partner in this afternoon's Ryder Cup foursomes.

Poutler and Rose formed an effective team at Medinah two years ago, but captain Paul McGinley has decided to break up that pairing.

Elsewhere, home favourite Stephen Gallacher, who did not take part in this morning's fourball encounters, has missed out again, which means that he will not play again until tomorrow's singles, just like Americans Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley.

Europe's Henrik Stenson, who won with Rose earlier, has decided to rest a back complaint, while Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth will continue their partnership, which is two from two so far at Gleneagles.

This afternoon's foursomes Donaldson/Westwood vs. Johnson/Kuchar Garcia/McIlroy vs. Furyk/Mahan Kaymer/Rose vs. Spieth/Reed Dubuisson/McDowell vs. Walker/Fowler
