Europe Ryder Cup skipper Paul McGinley has confirmed that he will not return to the team as a vice-captain for the next showdown against the USA in 2016.
The 47-year-old received plenty of plaudits from his players after guiding Europe to their 10th title at Gleneagles yesterday.
When asked by reporters if he would consider being a vice-captain for the next tournament, McGinley said: "No, I've done my piece and I'm happy to have the honour and happy to help in any way going forward.
"I don't think it would be right for me to go into the vice captaincy role. I don't know if I'd quite enjoy that, having done it, and then stepped up to captaincy. But I'm very happy to help the captain in any way. On the European side, obviously!"
2011 British Open champion Darren Clarke is currently the bookmakers' favourite to be the new Ryder Cup captain.
