Rookie Jordan Spieth confident ahead of Ian Poulter, Stephen Gallacher matchup

American rookie Spieth confident of victory

USA rookie Jordan Spieth has been talking up his chances of causing a Ryder Cup upset at Gleneagles tomorrow.

The 21-year-old Texan and his partner Patrick Reed will face Europe's Ian Poulter and local favourite Stephen Gallacher, and the American is more than happy with the matchup.

"I don't think you could have picked out two people that we want to play against more," Spieth is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I feel our job is to win a point. We can do that with those two guys. We're really going to lower their team morale, I feel like. I think our match is very important."

USA captain Tom Watson believes that fourballs presents the perfect chance for his young players to "get their feet wet" in the competition.
