Schumacher ex-wife says F1 name still pays

Cora Schumacher says she has no intention of giving up her famous surname — because it still makes her money.

In a new interview with Bild, the ex-wife of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher admitted she is keeping the name for commercial reasons.

"Why should I? I'd be stupid," she said when asked if she would eventually revert to her maiden name. "As long as I can still make money from it."

The pair divorced a decade ago after 14 years of marriage. Ralf publicly came out as gay in 2024, and while he says the response within Formula 1 has been “very supportive,” Cora has made clear she was hurt by the revelation.

Their former marriage has come under fresh scrutiny after German entertainer Oliver Pocher claimed the relationship was essentially a contract designed to hide Ralf’s sexuality during his F1 career.

"It was always such an open secret," Pocher said, before claiming: "Cora, she's been assigned to him; she had a ten-year contract." Cora dismissed that theory.

"I'd be rich by now if that had been the case," she said. "I wouldn't have thrown my life away for any amount of money." She added: "I didn't sign a non-disclosure agreement in a marriage contract. It doesn't say anything like that."

Cora also revealed she’s now in therapy and has cut contact with Ralf entirely. "My falling out is water under the bridge, I'm getting along well with Olli again," she said. "Ralf, on the other hand, is blocked on my phone."
