Pirelli arrange Formula 1 post-season tyre tests

Pirelli arrange two days of tyre tests following criticism over tyre safety during the Formula 1 season.

Tyre manufacturers Pirelli will arrange test days for their tyres following the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

A number of drivers have criticised the quality of tyres throughout the season and there were rumours of a plan for a boycott at the Italian Grand Prix.

"We have been advised that there should a couple of days in Abu Dhabi after the season to look at the new supersoft [tyre]. And two days at Paul Ricard in January for wet testing," Paul Hembery, Pirelli's motorsport director, told reporters.

"That's the current situation and only at Strategy Group level, that has to be ratified very quickly of course to enable that to happen."

The Formula 1 season continues this weekend in Singapore, with qualifying taking place on Saturday.
