Ferrari's Felipe Massa admits that he needs to have a good 2012 season if he is to remain with the Italian Formula One team.

Felipe Massa has admitted that he needs a good 2012 season if he is to remain with Ferrari.

The 30-year-old has been overshadowed by teammate Fernando Alonso this season, picking up just 90 points compared to Alonso's 202 prior to the Korean Grand Prix.

Rumours have suggested that Massa could be on his way out of the Italian team but the Brazilian is confident that a good year will secure his future.

"To do a good year will be very important, crucial for my future of being in a competitive team, no doubt. And so my determination is greater than ever," Massa told O Estado de S.Paulo.

Massa is confident that if he did leave Ferrari there would be plenty of teams willing to sign him.

When asked what he would do if he left Ferrari, Massa responded: "I go to another team! There is no other option; I will continue to race and thinking about the best for my career.

"I am not afraid of anything that can happen as I've always been a guy with his feet on the ground. I know that if I do not have a good 2012, everything can change. Everything follows according to the results."

Massa has competed in 150 Formula One races, winning eleven times.
