Bernie Ecclestone: 'US Grand Prix in doubt'

Ecclestone casts doubt on US Grand Prix

Formula One chief Bernie Eccleston has cast doubt over whether next year's United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas will take place.

A contract dispute between track owners and Tavo Hellmund's Full Throttle Productions is currently ongoing.

The track owners have said that they will not continue construction until they have received a contract from Hellmund.

However, Ecclestone has confirmed that the contract has been cancelled after he was found to be in breach.

The 81-year-old is now in negotiations with Circuit of The Americas (COTA) who are developing the track.

Asked whether the race was at risk of being cancelled, Ecclestone replied: "Yes, it will be, for sure, 100%."

The last F1 race in America took place in 2007.
