Red Bull team principal Christian Horner claims that talks to shelve the 2012 Bahrain GP will take place in the coming weeks.

Formula 1's return to Bahrain for the 2012 season has been called into question as a result of continuing unrest in the country.

This year's race was cancelled following protests in the Gulf kingdom and the problems currently show no hint of subsiding.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that the sport's bosses will be discussing the matter over the coming weeks.

"It's always concerning with the media reports that you hear," said Horner. "[We] trust in the promoter and FIA to deal with it accordingly."

The European Tour's 2012 Volvo Golf Champions tournament in Bahrain was also abandoned due to the political crisis.
