Luca di Montezemolo: 'Bernie Ecclestone era nearing end'

Luca di Montezemolo believes that Formula 1 needs to move on from Bernie Ecclestone's style of management.

Luca di Montezemolo has said that Bernie Ecclestone's leadership in Formula 1 is nearing an end.

The Ferrari president believes that the sport needs to take a new direction.

Di Montezemolo told reporters: "We are very close to opening a new page in the future of F1, acknowledging the good work that Bernie has done but moving on.

"I always say to Bernie the one-man show in life is finished.

"We are slowly approaching the end of a period characterised by the style of one man who has done significant things."

The 2013 F1 season gets underway with the Australian Grand Prix on March 17.
