Chase Carey wants Formula 1 races to be 'much bigger'

After attending just one grand prix, Formula 1's new executive chairman is already making plans for big changes.

Chase Carey was trackside in Singapore, one of the jewels in the F1 crown with its highly popular city night race.

Afterwards, he told F1 business journalist Christian Sylt that he plans to make grands prix "much bigger, much broader and appeal to a much larger audience happening throughout the week".

Sylt said that a key to this is Liberty's investment in Live Nation, which according to the Liberty Media website is the largest live entertainment and event promotion company in the world.

"I think there is an enormous opportunity for us to really make these events something much bigger than they are today," Carey said.

Next up on the calendar is the Malaysian Grand Prix next weekend.
