Martin Brundle in Sky switch

BBC Formula 1 supremo Martin Brundle has announced that he will join the new Sky Sports F1 HD channel as of next season.

Sky's dedicated F1 channel, which was announced earlier this week, will show every race without interruption as well as all qualifying and practice sessions.

The BBC will still show half of the 20 races and have extended highlights of those it does not broadcast live.

During the races on Sky there will be no advertisements and the 52-year-old said this was one of the key factors that contributed to his move.

"In 2012 I will be working with Sky Sports F1 television," Brundle confirmed in the Sunday Times.

"The fact that their newly-announced and dedicated F1 channel will have no in-race advertising was a key factor, but most importantly I need to commentate on every race live. Recorded and delayed sports television doesn't give me the adrenalin fix I crave.

"There will also be more airtime for the technical features I so enjoy crafting. It's been a privilege to be part of the BBC team, but now I have a new motivation and challenge."

The final grand prix of 2011 in Brazil takes place this afternoon, with Sebastian Vettel again on pole.
