Bernie Ecclestone says that the Bahrain Grand Prix will take place next year.

The Bahrain Grand Prix will take place next year, Formula One chief Bernie Eccleston has confirmed.

The future of the race had been in doubt due to civil unrest in the country.

"It's on the calendar," Ecclestone told BBC Sport. "We'll be there, unless something terrible happens to stop us."

Asked what he would do if any further trouble happened in Bahrain, the 81-year-old said: "I'd wait and see what happened and then decide. Up to now they've done everything they said they were going to do."

Meanwhile, doubts still remain over next year's US Grand Prix and the Korean meeting.

Ecclestone is in dispute with the organisers of the Austin, Texas race who haven't yet paid the money to host the spectacle, while Korean promoters want to reduce their $50m fee.
