Marussia call for "patience" with regards to Jules Bianchi's health

Marussia release a statement calling for "patience" with regards to updates of Jules Bianchi's medical condition after he suffered a head injury at the Japanese GP.

The Marussia Formula 1 team have called for "patience and understanding" with regards to updates on Jules Bianchi's medical condition after he suffered a severe head injury during Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital after colliding with a recovery vehicle that was tending to Adrian Sutil's Sauber during the rain-affected race at Suzuka.

The Frenchman is believed to be in critical condition after the FIA confirmed that the driver has undergone surgery.

A statement from Marussia this morning said: "[We] would like to acknowledge the huge outpouring of support and affection for Jules and the team at this very difficult time.

"With regard to the communication of information concerning Jules's medical condition, we will respect and be guided by the wishes of the Bianchi family. Together with Jules's care, they will remain our highest priority.

"Therefore, we would ask for patience and understanding with regard to further medical updates, which will be communicated in conjunction with the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi, where Jules is being treated, when they feel it is appropriate."

It is understood that Bianchi remains reliant on a respirator, despite some reports claiming that he is breathing unaided.
