Tony Pulis hails 'brilliant' James McClean

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has joked that he intends to leave James McClean out of his squad to face Leicester City after the midfielder killed off Wales's World Cup hopes.

The Republic of Ireland international scored the only goal of the game as the Boys in Green won their winner-takes-all showdown at the Cardiff City Stadium earlier this week.

Newport-born Pulis has heaped praise on McClean following his match-winning strike, but says that he will now have to think twice about including the 28-year-old against Leicester at the King Power Stadium next Monday.

"He won't be playing for me, not after what he did to Wales!" he told reporters. "He's done brilliantly and he's a great lad. It was a great goal, great technique, on his right foot.

"I think James gives his best. You watch him training - sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn't play well - that's like all players. He is a great lad around the place and everyone has got great respect for him. He gives 100%, week in, week out."

McClean has featured seven times for Albion so far this season in all competitions and twice for Ireland.
