New West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew says that he was left "genuinely pleased" by the Baggies' goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

Alan Pardew has revealed that he was left "genuinely pleased" after picking up a point from his first game in charge of West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

A goalless draw at home with fellow strugglers Crystal Palace left the Baggies three points clear of the bottom three and extended their unbeaten league run to three games.

The West Midlands side are still without a win in their last 14, although Pardew insists that the side will "have nothing to worry about" if they turn out more performances like they did today.

"Everything was there in terms of application and attitude," he told reporters afterwards. "Maybe we need a little bit of composure, which you might expect after the run of games we've had but I was genuinely pleased with the drive of the team.

"We had a lot of quality missing today in terms of injured players - we lost Gareth Barry early, which was a blow - but the response from the guys was great and if we go forward like that, we'll have nothing to worry about.

"Three games in a week for these guys, including at Wembley on the Saturday, they give everything. We've got three points out of them and deserved perhaps a little bit more."

Next up for Pardew's side is a trip to rock-bottom Swansea City next Saturday.
