Aiming to avoid a third consecutive defeat, Central Coast Mariners welcome Sydney FC to the Central Coast Stadium on Saturday in round eight of the 2022-23 Australian A-League season.

Meanwhile, the away side make the trip to Gosford in search of a third victory on the bounce to help continue their recent upturn in form.

Both sides boast similar attacking numbers heading into this one, so it would be a surprise if either of them came away without conceding. However, Central Coast Mariners are just about more solid at the back, and we can see them narrowly coming out on top at the end of the 90 minutes.

Melbourne City vs. Victory (Saturday, 8.45am)

The first Melbourne Derby of the 2022-23 A-League campaign will take place on Saturday at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium as the league leaders Melbourne City host Melbourne Victory.

Last Saturday, City suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 2-1 versus Sydney FC, while Big V have points in three of their previous four fixtures, edging Macarthur 1-0 a week ago.

Lately, Victory look more organised and compact defensively, but City have the personnel to get through that defensive line and a striker who has rarely been contained over the past few seasons, so we expect the home team will be too much for the visitors to handle this weekend.
